Tokaj-Hétszőlő Muskotály (Yellow Muscat) 2018
"From one of Tokaj's most historic organic estates comes a wine bursting with fresh elderflower and vibrant citrus."
Established in 1502, the prestigious Tokaj-Hétszőlő Estate has been cultivated by kings and emperors for over five centuries. Today, as a certified organic vineyard, it produces some of Hungary's most elegant white wines, perfectly expressing the unique loess soil of the Tokaj mountain slopes with incredible purity and vitality.
Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: Brilliant pale lemon-yellow with bright, lively reflections.
■ Aroma: A highly aromatic bouquet overflowing with fresh elderflower, spring blossoms, juicy white peach, and that classic, irresistible fresh grape aroma.
■ Palate: Crisp, extremely dry, and wonderfully refreshing. The highly aromatic floral notes are perfectly balanced by exhilarating citrus-driven acidity and a clean, elegantly mineral finish that completely refreshes the palate.
Sárgamuskotály (Yellow Muscat) is one of the world's oldest grape varieties and an official noble grape of the Tokaj region. While often used in sweet blends, when made dry, it becomes an incredibly aromatic and elegant wine, lauded for its floral notes and distinct "grapeyness." To ensure the absolute purity of the fruit, it is grown using strict organic farming practices, hand-harvested, gently pressed, and then undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This precise method prevents oxidation, preserving the grape's delicate aromas and freshness.
The Story
The Pride and Tradition of a First-Growth Classification
The Hétszőlő Estate has been classified as a First Growth since 1772. Today, it is owned by the prestigious Reybier family, who also own Bordeaux's Château Cos d'Estournel, bringing world-class precision and dedication to organic winemaking in Hungary.
Pour a glass of this beautifully aromatic, historic organic Muscat and let the vibrant, floral energy of Tokaj brighten your day.
Food Pairing
Recommended perfect matches for this wine:
- ■ Thai Green Curry or spicy Asian dishes: The intense floral and fruity aromas beautifully balance the spice of ginger, lemongrass, and chilies, while the crisp acidity refreshes the palate.
- ■ Fresh spring salads with asparagus: The wine's green elderflower notes act as a perfect bridge to the fresh, herbaceous flavors of green vegetables and vinaigrette dressings.
- ■ Fresh goat cheese: The exhilarating citrus acidity and bright fruit aromas offer an appetizing, classic contrast to the tangy and creamy texture of soft goat cheese.
Serving temperature: 8℃~10℃ (Enjoy well-chilled to preserve its refreshing aromas)
Vineyard & Terroir
Origin: Tokaj Mountain, Hungary (Hétszőlő Imperial Estate)
Unlike the heavier volcanic soils found in other parts of Tokaj, the Hétszőlő Estate is characterized by thick layers of loess (silt) covering a volcanic bedrock. This unique, lighter soil profile imparts unparalleled elegance, a smooth, refined texture, and bright, silky acidity to the wines, perfectly suited for aromatic varietals.
"Many people assume 'Muscat' means a sweet wine, but this dry Muskotály from Hétszőlő is a truly fresh surprise. It has rich, beautiful floral aromas, but when you taste it, it's completely crisp and extremely dry. Being 100% organic, it has an incredibly pure and lively energy that makes it dangerously easy to drink.
