The indomitable spirit of the Adriatic Sea. A powerful, sun-drenched masterpiece born from the rugged cliffs of the Pelješac Peninsula.
Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: Deep, intense ruby red. With age, elegant garnet nuances appear at the rim, conveying both power and elegance.
■ Aroma: Concentrated aromas of black cherry, dried plum, and blackberry are intricately intertwined with Mediterranean herbs (rosemary and sage), black olive, tobacco, leather, and an earthy minerality.
■ Palate: Powerful fruit expands across the palate, supported by firm tannins and vibrant, pleasant acidity. Spices and herbs harmonize with dark fruits, leading to a surprisingly long finish with a briny, sea-like salinity.
The wine's natural salinity and minerality are truly the sea breeze of the Adriatic. Allow the wine to breathe for a while after opening to further unleash the Mediterranean herb aromas and enjoy a more profound taste experience.
The Story
Miloš Winery Plavac Mali 2019
Perched on dramatic and steep slopes overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Miloš Winery is a family-run estate with generations of grape-growing heritage. Established in the early 1990s by Frano Miloš, the winery dedicates its passion to Plavac Mali, Croatia's flagship indigenous grape variety and a direct descendant of Zinfandel.
Through organic farming, hand-harvesting, and minimal intervention, they express the untouched spirit and terroir of Dalmatia. After natural fermentation with wild yeasts, the wine is aged for 18-24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and bottled unfiltered to preserve its pure vitality.
Food Pairing
With its firm tannins, deep fruit concentration, and savory herbal nuances, this wine calls for dishes with bold and profound flavors.
- ■ Grilled Steak: The wine's firm tannins and smoky notes beautifully complement the rich fat of the meat and enhance its savory char.
- ■ Aged Hard Cheese (such as Paški sir): The concentrated notes of dried plums and dark berries create a beautiful contrast with the saltiness and nutty flavors of aged cheese.
- ■ Herb-Roasted Lamb: The wine's natural aromas of sage and rosemary act as a "liquid seasoning," perfectly enhancing the earthy and aromatic flavors of lamb.
Serving Temperature: 16℃〜18℃ (Enjoy at this temperature range to bring out its full richness.)
Vineyard & Terroir
Dalmatia, Pelješac Peninsula
The Pelješac Peninsula boasts a challenging yet exceptional terroir. Its steep, terraced vineyards, rich in limestone, demand arduous manual labor but yield astonishingly concentrated grapes. The intense Adriatic sun creates powerful fruit flavors and high sugar levels, while the constant, salt-laden sea breeze keeps the vines healthy and imparts a distinctive saline and mineral character to the finished wine, reminiscent of the ocean.
From Dejan, Owner & Wine Curator
"When you pour this wine, you are literally pouring the sun and sea of the Adriatic into your glass. The wild Mediterranean herbs dancing with the salty, limestone-driven minerality is simply breathtaking. It will be an unforgettable sip, embodying the raw beauty of Croatian terroir."
