The terroir of cliffs known as "the vineyards of the sky." The essence of fresh and elegant Swiss Gamay, capturing the breath of nature.
Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: A transparent, brilliant, bright ruby red.
■ Aroma: Fresh fruit aromas of red cherry and raspberry, layered with the elegance of violets, a delicate spice of white pepper, and a refreshing hint reminiscent of alpine plants.
■ Palate: Pure and fresh red fruit flavors fill the mouth, with fine acidity and a limestone-derived minerality that gracefully tightens the overall structure. The charm lies in the settled character unique to the 2012 vintage and the light, elegant finish.
This Gamay, having matured since 2012, offers complex layers within its freshness. Please enjoy the energy of this "living wine," unique to unfiltered and natural yeast fermentation, in a large glass.
The Story
"Les Vignes dans le Ciel" The Miracle of the Vineyards in the Sky
At an altitude of 900m, overlooking the Rhone Valley in Valais, Switzerland, lies a sheer cliff face. The only way to reach Domaine de Beudon is on foot or by a small private cable car. Founders Jacques and Granger, since the 1970s, have pursued harmony with nature in this harsh environment, achieving Biodynamic certification in 1992. Grapes bathed in the clear alpine air and sun are transformed into wine that encapsulates the memory of the land, through minimal human intervention in winemaking.
Food Pairing
The refreshing alpine quality and gentle acidity of this Gamay enhance a variety of dishes:
- ■ Japanese Cuisine: Seared bonito, yakitori (salted), pork shabu-shabu
- ■ Traditional Swiss: Raclette, smoked meats, cheese dishes with mountain herbs
- ■ Vegetables & Herbs: Roasted root vegetables, salads seasoned with dill and parsley
Serving Temperature: 14-16℃ (Enjoy at this temperature to bring out its full richness.)
Vineyard & Terroir
Fiesch village, Valais canton, cliffs at 900m altitude
The steeply sloping vineyards are situated within a rich ecosystem surrounded by diverse herbs, oaks, and chestnut trees. The predominantly limestone soil and severe diurnal temperature variations impart a unique minerality and delicate structure to the Gamay. Every drop, produced through consistently low yields, natural yeast fermentation, and unfiltered bottling, condenses the terroir of the Alps.
"This Gamay is not just a red wine; it is a testament to the pure and powerful vitality of grapes that have thrived in the harsh nature of the Alps. Please savor the mellow richness brought by the 2012 vintage on a quiet evening."
