Guerila Pinela 2024
The vibrant energy of Slovenia's Vipava Valley. A pure, lively biodynamic wine made from the rare Pinela grape variety.
Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: Cheerful, bright, and lively sunny yellow.
■ Aroma: Extremely complex and layered, with beautiful notes of grapefruit, ripe peach, and dried flowers, alongside a distinct minerality of wet limestone.
■ Palate: A short period of skin contact gives this wine a pleasant structure. Outstanding minerality and vibrant freshness are beautifully balanced, leading to an incredibly smooth finish.
Thanks to a short period of skin contact, this white wine possesses a pleasant structure akin to a light orange wine. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, it is best enjoyed at 10-12℃ (not overly chilled) to bring out its distinctive wet limestone minerality.
The Story
A Masterpiece by Zmago Petrič of the Esteemed Guerila Winery
Guerila Winery, located in Slovenia's beautiful Vipava Valley, reflects an uncompromising respect for nature. Through strict biodynamic farming practices, they encapsulate the pure and unadulterated essence of the region's terroir in every bottle.
Pinela is an indigenous variety cherished in the Vipava Valley, yielding wines with outstanding freshness, delicate floral aromas, and a distinctive mineral structure. The grapes are hand-picked, naturally fermented with wild yeasts only, then aged for 9 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, and bottled strictly according to the biodynamic calendar. (Production: Limited to 6,700 bottles worldwide)
Food Pairing
The wine's delicate structure, bright acidity, and subtle grip from the skin contact make it an incredibly versatile pairing for a wide range of dishes.
- ■ Grilled white fish with herbs: The bright citrus notes and limestone minerality perfectly complement the fresh, savory flavor of the fish.
- ■ Seafood Tempura: The crisp acidity and subtle orange wine structure make for a wonderful palate cleanser with lightly fried dishes.
- ■ Aged hard cheeses: The complex aromas of dried flowers and peach beautifully harmonize with the nutty fragrance of a good hard cheese.
Serving temperature: 10℃ – 12℃ (Enjoy at this temperature to bring out its full richness.)
Vineyard & Terroir
The Blessing of Slovenia's Vipava Valley
The Vipava Valley is renowned for its unique microclimate, blessed with cool winds and mineral-rich soils. This rocky terrain imparts a distinctive "wet limestone" aroma directly to the wine, giving it a refreshing and firm structure. Producer Zmago Petrič is highly regarded as a pioneer of natural winemaking in Slovenia, dedicated to genuine terroir-driven viticulture without the use of synthetic chemicals.
"The vibrant energy in the glass is truly wonderful! The meticulous biodynamic farming shines through clearly in its incredible wet limestone minerality. It's a light, slightly orange-hued, fantastic wine, perfect for experiencing the magic of Slovenian winemaking."
