A vibrant, wild masterpiece born from the sun-drenched, rugged cliffs along the Adriatic coast.
Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: Deep, vibrant ruby-pink, hinting at a powerful character.
■ Aroma: An inviting bouquet of wild strawberries, interwoven with dried Mediterranean herbs (maquis), a hint of sea salt, and deep earthy nuances.
■ Palate: Full-bodied and well-structured. Flavors of ripe red fruit are beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity and a prominent mineral backbone, leading to a refreshing and long, flavorful finish.
Serving this wine at a slightly higher temperature than typical rosés (12℃〜14℃) fully unlocks its inherent complexity and depth.
The Story
The Harsh Terroir of the Adriatic and Traditional Natural Winemaking
Miloš Winery, led by Frano Miloš, known as the king of Plavac Mali (the ancestor of Zinfandel), Croatia's most iconic red grape. Grapes harvested by hand in early September undergo natural fermentation and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks using only wild yeasts. They are then patiently aged for two years—one year in stainless steel tanks and one year in the bottle—before release, ensuring perfect harmony and stability. This is a surprisingly long-lived wine that purely expresses the terroir of the Pelješac Peninsula.
Food Pairing
Due to its full-bodied and flavorful Mediterranean character, this is a gastronomic wine that pairs wonderfully with rich, umami-driven dishes.
- ■ Unagi Kabayaki (Grilled Eel): The wine's vibrant acidity neatly cuts through the sweetness of the soy sauce glaze and the richness of the eel, while the earthy nuances of Plavac Mali perfectly harmonize with the smoky aroma of charcoal grilling.
- ■ Stewed Beef Tendon: The deep umami of slow-cooked beef resonates with the wine's full-bodied fruit flavors and wild herb aromas. It beautifully refreshes the palate after a rich bite.
- ■ Prosciutto and Aged Hard Cheese: A classic Adriatic pairing. The wine's prominent minerality and subtle hint of sea salt further enhance the saltiness of cured meats and cheeses.
Serving Temperature: 12℃〜14℃ (Enjoy at this temperature range to bring out its full richness)
Vineyard & Terroir
Prapratno Bay - Concentration Born from an Extreme Environment
Strict organic farming is practiced on steep, terraced vineyards at an altitude of 250m, facing south. The 30-year-old bush vines root deep into the hard dolomite rock beneath a thin sandy soil layer. Growing in a harsh environment exposed to intense Adriatic sun and sea breezes, yields are extremely limited, producing highly concentrated grapes rich in minerals.
"This is not just a summer quaffer; it's a surprisingly serious wine. Your perception of rosé will be completely revolutionized when you discover how perfectly this Plavac Mali rosé accompanies rich, complex dishes. It brilliantly combines the soul-stirring depth of a red wine with the refreshing, crisp elegance of a white wine."
