Tasting Notes
■ Appearance: A bright and inviting ruby red with soft garnet nuances at the rim.
■ Nose: Ripe dark cherry and sweet plum aromas intermingle with warm spices, subtle earthy undertones, and a delicate hint of Mediterranean wild shrubs (garrigue).
■ Palate: Approachable yet structured. Rich dark fruit flavors unfold, balanced by rustic, soft tannins and a pleasant, refreshing acidity, leading to a warm, subtly spicy finish.
This is a perfect everyday red wine for unpretentious meals. Served at the ideal temperature of 16-18°C, the Pelješac-specific sweetness of fruit and Mediterranean herbal nuances will blossom most beautifully.
The Story
PZ Dingač | Plavac Mali 2020
Founded in 1902 in the village of Potomje, the Dingač Agricultural Cooperative (PZ Dingač) is a cornerstone of the Pelješac Peninsula's wine culture. As one of Croatia's oldest agricultural cooperatives, generations of local families have united to cultivate the legendary Plavac Mali grape on the dramatic, sun-drenched coastal slopes, bottling the spirit of everyday Adriatic life.
Plavac Mali is the undisputed king of Dalmatian red grape varieties. A natural cross between Crljenak Kaštelanski (the progenitor of Zinfandel) and Dobričić, it thrives in harsh, dry environments, producing wines with deep color, rich fruit, and herbaceous characteristics.
Grapes harvested from traditional bush-vine vineyards by cooperative members are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve bright, natural fruit flavors. They then undergo a short aging period in traditional large oak barrels to soften the tannins before bottling.
Food Pairing
The rustic charm and bright fruit of this wine make it surprisingly versatile, pairing well with a wide range of dishes from traditional Mediterranean cuisine to everyday dinner staples.
- ■ Tomato-based pastas or meat ragùs: The wine's pleasant acidity perfectly complements the acidity of tomatoes, while the dark fruit flavors enhance rich, savory meat sauces.
- ■ Grilled oily fish (mackerel or sardines): A traditional Dalmatian pairing! The gentle tannins don't overpower the fish's flavor, and the wine's slight saltiness highlights the smoky char.
- ■ Prosciutto and mild cheeses: The aroma of ripe cherries creates a beautiful fruity contrast with salty, rich cured meats and creamy, young cheeses.
Serving Temperature: 16℃〜18℃ (Enjoy its full richness at this temperature range)
Vineyard & Terroir
Dalmatia Region, Pelješac Peninsula
The rugged karst limestone soils and the relentless Adriatic sun define this terroir. This unique geography provides the grapes with "three suns" (direct sunlight, reflected light from the sea, and radiant heat from the white rocks), ensuring optimal ripeness. At the same time, cool breezes from the sea maintain essential acidity and vine health.
※ The Dingač Agricultural Cooperative holds the honorable distinction of producing the first legally protected wine in Croatia (the 1961 "Dingač"), solidifying its tradition as a true guardian of Dalmatian viticulture.
