The Story
Saperavi, one of the world's oldest grape varieties, and its elegant aging
Saperavi is an ancient grape variety native to Georgia and is very rare in Japan. It is a unique variety called "Teinturier," meaning both the skin and flesh are red, which gives the wine its characteristic deep color, rich flavor, and excellent aging potential.
Carefully cultivated in Ukraine and skillfully aged to achieve elegant maturity, this 2018 vintage demonstrates how powerful grapes transform into smooth, velvety tannins over time, while maintaining lively acidity and wonderfully expressing complex and spicy nuances.

Zakarpattia and High Acclaim in the Media
Located in western Ukraine, the Zakarpattia region offers a unique microclimate suitable for cultivating the robust Saperavi grape variety. This terroir balances the grape's natural deep flavors with the refreshing, crisp acidity drawn from its rich soil.
Featured on BS TV Tokyo's "Tatsumi Takuro's Wine Romance" (aired September 17, 2023)
In a blind tasting of 12 wines on a nationally broadcast TV program, guest commentator and manga artist Mayumi Kurata chose this very Saperavi as the wine that "expressed her most unique personality." The program's host, Takuro Tatsumi, also emphasized the historical significance of Saperavi, one of the world's oldest grape varieties, and praised its taste.
"Saperavi is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, and it's truly special to see it so beautifully expressed in the Ukrainian terroir. The balance of dark fruits and that impressive black pepper finish will make a leisurely, luxurious dinner unforgettable.
